What is your website? www.puritymusic.com (under construction)

What is your MySpace? www.myspace.com/puritymusic

What genre is your music? Metal/Hardcore

What are some of the shows you have comming up? Project Independent Spring tour 2007 ( www.myspace.com/projectindependent for dates and details)

Who got you interested in playing this kind of music? Various professional artists in the Metal genre

What is music to you? Expression of who we are as individuals using instruments. A beautiful art form used to create something that you want to hear and enjoy and hope others will enjoy or embrace it as well.

How did you come up with your band name? Title of our favorite Slipknot song (b-side)

What venue would you like to play the most that you haven't played at? House of Blues Anaheim, Ca or Los Angeles, Ca

When, Where and How was your first show? Our first show was at The Showcase Theatre in Riverside, Ca on Dec. 11, '05. Our performance was sub par compared to how well we're able to perform currently. Overall still a great experience except for the fact our set list was cut short.

Who do you one day want to play a show with or open for? LoL! Any band that has a fairly large following who actually attends the shows.

Why do you play music? We all live it and love it. It's the one thing we can all turn to and it will be there for you no matter what circumstance. Hopefully one day we can earn a broad audience to listen to our creations and maybe make a mark on the industry.

What makes you strive to be heard? The fact that we know we make music thats true to our hearts and is a fresh take on a genre that has a glut of stale sounding riffs, beats and breakdowns. We believe it's important to encompass a hook in a song to stand out amongst the rest.

What inspires most of your lyrics? Usually it comes from a current frustration we have within our personal lives or a world matter that angers or saddens us. Some of our songs on our upcoming record string together in one theme, sort of like telling a story.

What brought your band together? The band is basically consisted of two seperate previous bands (Jason/Henry & Neil/Jon) joining forces and bringing our personal friend Andrew into the mix. Jason had two projects going in limbo so he decided to look for another band to join and found Neil and Jon through Myspace classifieds. Once Neil and Jon were stunned by Jason's audition, they needed another guitar player to fill a void so Jason brought Henry aboard with confidence to add strength to the line up. Neil's cousin played bass but slipped away from the position due to concentration on his upcoming baby with his wife so Jon invited Andrew to fill his shoes and he surpassed our expectations. That's how Purity as you see it was born.

When was your band formed? The current line up was formed in November '05.

Where do you wish for your band to be in 5 years? Signed to a label, sharing the stage with a metal heavy-weight such as Metallica, Unearth, Lamb of God, Slayer, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, you know the drill.... and earning enough money to make a decent/above average living.

What do you think its going to take to get there? Complete drive and dedication! A willingness to adapt to the everchanging industry demands is also important. You never want to run in place. You got to attempt to stay ahead of the pack.

What is the best thing about being your band? Hanging out with a group of guys who actually share a common vision and who are confident they can obtain it. Quality musicianship also is a plus. No weak link in the band.

Where have you been playing lately and how has your response been?
We ended '06 with a bang by playing the world famous Whisky a Go-Go 3 times in consecutive months with some great bands such as Caliban, Full Blown Chaos, Acacia Strain, Scars of Tomorrow, Light this City and Stick to your Guns. We had fantastic reactions from the crowd but unfortunately we have yet played to a capacity crowd anywhere.

What is the best thing about music? It can set the mood for any occasion. It can also be therapuetic.

What is the worst thing about music? Today's music seems to recycle a tried and true formula and lack any type of originality. More musicians need to open up and explore uncharted territory.

What inspires each of you to play? It's our favorite form of release and it just so happens to result in a creation.

What do you want to see happen thru music in the future? A change in the way artists gain recognition and exposure. It seems to get a little easier these days with the help of the net and sites such as Myspace, Artist Direct, itunes, etc. There is still another outlet needed for struggling artists who have a lack of resources.

Do you have any advice to starting bands? Sad to admit it but it takes $$$$$ to get your band anywhere. You need to have a lot of support from friends, family and strangers to sell tickets to your shows, pack a crowd and gain a buzz. Play your heart out and promote the hell out of your band. Make yourself sound like the sh* without being too STICKy...and be sure to back it up!

What's your latest cd? Our latest album happens to be in the mix right now. It will be finished before we head out on tour in April.

What do you think of Big Smile? They're Awesome...
