Interview with Big Hoss and Guitarist Ryan Primack of Poison The Well
What is your name a Position in the band? I play guitar
What genre is your music? I think on our myspace it says crunk right now and folk
How did you come up with your band name? With my ex girlfriend back in high school.
Did you guys have any previous band names? Yeah, we used to be called An Acre Lost, but our first name ever was Doubting Tomas.
How many people in the band are original band members? Three.
What is the one venue you guys would want to play? I guess DC space would be cool.
What is the best and worst venue you guys have played at? CBGB’s is the best and worst to play, bathroom is bad, Parking is bad, show incredible.
What would be one band you guys would want to open up for? Bad Brains.
Why do you guys play music? Because I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t.
What inspires most of your lyrics? Just like regular life, and the frustrating leisure of everyday living.
What Brought your band together? We were all just kids that were in a couple of different bands but we all went to the same shows, and I met Jeff when he was 16 and Chris was 16 as well and we were just all going to the same punk rock and hardcore shows and one day I was like hey Jeff you should come sing for this band and it just kind of happened.
Where do you wish your band to be in 5 years? Just playing.
Where have you been playing lately and how has your response been? Things have been good, we just did a tour all over the U.S. and we just played a lot of the littler towns and it was fun.
Any funny or interesting stories wile on tour? This is the second entire tour iv done with shoes held completely together by duct tape.
What do you guys think of UFO’s? That stuff is real man, my friend Jeff Jenkins sang for this band called seven and he is %100 sure he’s been abducted or adopted one or the other.
What do you guys do outside the band for work? I haven’t had like a day job day job in a while, a lot of the times when im home I bar back at my girlfriends bar and kick up a couple of bucks.
What were some of your favorite bands growing up? Like Led Zeppelin and Bad Brains and Minor Threat bands like NO FX and stuff like that.
Do any of the other members in the band play in any other bands? No.
What do you guys do on the road to keep busy? Make fun of each other.
Do you guys have any advise for bands about to go on there first tour? Yeah just be stoked that you’re on tour.
What your guy’s latest cd? Versions
How did you guys come up with the title? Because there is two different sections.
Did it seam long or fast to record it? It took really long because we got in to a fight with our old label, and it took millions of years to sort out, by the time that was all over we had like 27 songs so it was cool and we just picked out the ones that we liked.
Are you guys pretty happy how it came out? Yeah we are all pretty happy and stoked how it came out.
Where can people pick up your cd? Like best buy or your local record store or iTunes if you don’t like leavening the house.
What do your fans think of the cd? Half of them probly like it and half of them hate it, but its always been like that from the first record to now.
