What's your myspace link or any other link you want to give us?

myspace. com/patentpending and youtube. com/patentpendingtv There are some funny home movies we made on our patentpendingtv page on youtube. It's good times fo' sho!

Who are you and where are you all from?

We are Patent Pending, and we are from Long Island New York! My name is Joe and I play guitar in the band!

How was your band formed?

I used to be a really serious hockey player, and I was going to go away to school on scholarship to play and all that jazz, but then I broke my ankle! I was going crazy not being able to play hockey, so I taught myself how to play guitar to pass the time. I wasn't good enough to play other peoples' songs at first so i started to write songs. Then I started a band and never looked back!

What band has influenced you the most?

I'd say... Green Day or Blink 182; they were the best bands when we first started playing music together. I think we were less of a band then; we were just a bunch of dudes who loved those bands.

What do you try to have people get out of your music?

GOOD TIMES! We are a party band who just loves living life and eating tacos! So yeah, I guess that is kind of our thing.

What inspries your lyrics? What are they all about?

All kinds of things inspire lyrics to my songs. I have written about everything from heartbreak to pizza. It's important as a song writer to not pigeonhole yourself into writing about one thing. I feel like it is important to write about everything around you: the funny, the sad, the happy, and the bad.

What makes you different from other bands out there?

A lot of bands can get caught up in their image and making sure they sound one very specific and marketable way. We are here more because we love music and want to have fun! It's easy for bands to lose sight of why they started their band and I like to think that we have really held onto that over the years.

Have a CD out? If so how can we get it?

We have a CD out on We Put Out Records called "Save Each Other, The Whales Are Doing Fine." You can get it in any store or on itunes... YOU TOTALLY SHOULD!!!

If you could give advice to a starting band or musician, what would you say?

I would say make sure that you are starting your band for the right reasons, and to make sure that you are doing it with your friends. If you don't like the people, but they can play guitar or drums really well, it isn't worth it! At the end of the day the only thing that will matter is how much fun you had, and that's a hard thing to do if you don't like the people that you are making music with.

What do you guys like to do on the road?

WE LOVE EATING AT CHIPOTLE! It is sooo delicious!!! We also like to play poker, and sometimes, if the stars align just right, we get to go to the movies. Those days are awesome!

Do you have any upcoming shows?

Right now we are extremely hard at work on our new album so we are kind of laying low in the studio. But we have some pretty big and awesome announcements in the coming months.

What do you think about UFOs?

I think that there is an awesome chance that the government knows a lot about things that we don't know about yet. Hopefully one day we will get to the bottom of it.

What are your views on the war that's going on today?

It is a really painful thing to talk about, but hopefully all senseless fighting will come to an end soon.

What were some of your favorite bands growing up?

M.C. Hammer, New Kids On The Block (yeah comeback!), Vanilla Ice, Beach Boys, Bon Jovi - the list goes on and on.

Anything else you want to say to fans or anyone reading this interview?

We are posting a web t-shirt store on our site in the coming month; be on the look out for sweet t's and new jams! And thank you so much for the interview, I had a great time!
