After splitting his old band Uso y Abuso, Armando La Hoz (guitar, vocals) decided to go ahead with a new music project. John Bustamante (bassist) and Danny Da Silva (drums) started playing with him, just tired of their old bands. MOLESTIA is a mix of their influences, a band based on grunge, pop punk and alternative so here is their interview....

We a lot of readers from the U.S. Could you tell us a little about the music
scene in Venezuela ?
There´s a huge growing scene.... Metal bands, Emocore bands, Punk bands... maybe what we need here is some promotors and that kind of stuff... People here loves rock bands.... the thing is we need some smart people interested on this scene, and more independent record labels.

Explain the process of trying to book a show and how venues are there in
Venezuela.
As any other band from any other places, what you need to do is to try hard to sell your music to pub managers and events organizers... not an easy stuff, you know... but is something great to do if you love to do what you are doing...

Do you have any upcoming shows?
Yes, we´ll be playing next sunday in a pro-animals event. We are sure it will be great, as any other gigs... We love to play everywhere!!!! XD

What inspires most of your lyrics?
Basically, our songs are inspired in the facts of growing up, love, anger... maybe it sounds as a cliche, but is more as a catarsis... i mean, an exorcism for our lives and problems during the growing up process

What is the best thing about being in a band to you?
The fact of making people feel different emotions, and share our own feelings with them...there´s no connection if you are not supposed to share your own feelings with people, and that´s the magical process of it.

What do you think about UFOs?
We are not alone...i mean... are politicians from this world? or even our families? are we from this world? well... don´t take this seriously!!!! Lol!!!! There´s something outside here, for sure!!!!

What religion are you guys and does it effect your music?
We are Catholics, i think.... and maybe i would inspire our thinkings...but we are not what people use to call a christian rock band, and i´m not sure if it affects our music directly. Why don´t we ask this question to Bad Religion? at least, they have a suspicious name! lol!!!!

What do you think of vegetarians?
People is free to eat whatever they want... We are not vegetarians...but the problem matters in the fact of torturing animals without any reason... if you need to eat meat, well...kill the animal fast.... but don´t make it suffer lots!!!! and never kill 10000 animals to eat just one.... That´s a very interesting question, for sure!!!!

What do you guys do for work right now, other than playing music?
All of us have our own jobs... we don´t have to live from music.... we just live FOR music!!! benefits will come later, if you work for your beliefs.

What were some of your favorite bands growing up?
We listened lots of music... since Megadeth, Metallica...lots of punk and grunge bands, and of course Beatles and some pop stuff....

Out of those bands which one has infulanced your band the most?
Nirvana and earlier Green Day, for sure!!!!

Do any of the members of the band play in any other bands?
not by now... MOLESTIA is our priority since the first rehearsal some years ago.

Do you guys have a CD our right now?
We are recording our first album, as many bands from here...this is the THEORY OF PUNK PARADISE... i mean...if you want something, do it by yerself!!!! but we have lots of demos and an unreleased acoustic EP...

What is the tittle and where can we get a copy?
you will get the name of the EP when we decide to release it... and the name of the album when is done!!!! you will find this stuff in our website, for sure!!!! stay tuned!!!

Are you guys planning on ever touring in the US?
Yes, we are really thinking about it!!!! XD

Do you guys have any promoting secrets that you would like to shair with out
readers?
We´ll be releasing some nu stuff on internet soon!!!! including our first album and a tour diary video titled MOLESTIA: A REALITY SHOCK, which will show you guys how hard but funny is touring here for an independent band!!!!
