When did you guys start? We started playing music together in August 2006. It was just a bunch of dudes who wanted to freely write the music that they loved. It ultimately started as a small project and consequently turned into this huge obsession where we decided to dedicate ourselves to the entire thing.
Where are you guys from? The band originated in Vancouver, Washington State. A little suburban city directly across from Portland, OR. Me (Malachi) and Ryan are the only members from there at this point though...Chris is from Colorado and Adam is from Orange County. How did you meet each other? Ryan and I met when this band was formed. A former member of the band introduced us and since then we became very close friends. We met Chris here in California through nothing other than a Craigslist ad (laughs). I would like to say it was just a male-seeking-male sort of thing, but it actually was due to us looking for a guitar player. After finding Chris, he introduced us to Adam and the pieces really seemed to fit. Not only was the musicianship there that we were looking for, but we also gained a very good friend as well.

What kind if music most influences the band? We have a lot of punk, metal and hardcore influences for sure. Propagandhi and Strung Out, Iron Maiden and Metallica, Protest The Hero and Everytime I Die, Simon and Garfunkel, you know, the basics. I'm pretty sure Adam has a lot of influence from Smash Mouth, but don't quote me on that.

What music could you not breathe without?
One time I had an asthma attack because someone turned off Heretics and Killers by Protest The Hero. No, I totally just lied to you. I've never even had an asthma attack. But we all do love that band. What the most embarrassing song you like right now?
I may or may not go to sleep listening to Rockapella's "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?" What makes you different than other bands? We have gone through a crap-load of drama through the years, and we still trek through it all. Those of us that have stuck around and continued to make music this way has been nothing more than pure gold for us. We love the music we make. All the different influences from each person makes this beautiful thing that we just can't seem to get away from.

What category would you place your music? Every bands favorite question. How about....tech punk/metal/melodic hardcore/ popgressive?

After seeing you guys live, your stage presence is natural and entertaining. What other bands where you guys in before DTW?
We definitely have way too much fun with each other on stage. We interact a lot and most of the time we're smiling. Not very metal at all. We've all played in a lot of local bands from our hometowns. Chris played with the OC punk band Unit F, and a few years back Adam was a member of Porcelain Gunfight.

If you could meet yourself as a 10 year old, what would you say to him? I'd say "Take voice lessons, dude. Operatic. Seriously, you'll love it in 10 years."

Do you believe in ufos? Of course I do, who doesn't? The movie Independence Day actually originated as a history channel special, but Hollywood thought it would be more lucrative starring Will Smith.

Anything you would like to say to anyone reading this interview? Listen to Drown The Witness, I suppose.
