Wednesday March 28th 2007, Hot Topic and Purevolume.com brought Haste the Day. From Autumn to Ashes, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, the Sleeping and Alesana to the Glass House in the Art Colony of Pomona, CA.

It wasn't a sold out show, but everyone there had a good time. It just took a little while for the crowd to get into it. Alesana was first. They didn't get a huge response due mainly to the fact that the crowd was still meandering in during their set. I wasn't able to shoot Alesana because I had to get my pass situated.

The next band was the Sleeping. I had never heard them before, but Brian, MATSOD's tour manager told me they were good. He was right. I enjoyed their set very much. They had great energy and some really cool slower, more melodic, instrumental sections to their songs.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster was the third band to play. To be quite honest, this was really the only band I wanted to see. After getting their self-titled CD, I have been dying to see them live. Every other time they have rolled into town, I have missed their show, so I was really excited to be able to see them finally. I met up with Brian, their tour manager, because he was the one getting me a pass for the show. He was so accommodating, I felt like I was a guest of honor, not just some joe-smoe covering a show. It was a nice change. MATSOD certainly did not disappoint me, or the crowd. They have a great stage presence and their blend of Southern Rock, Hardcore and Metal is just awesome. The crowd definitely came alive during MATSOD's set. The majority of the crowd was singing along with Dallas, dancing and crowd surfing. Three key ingredients for a good show.

After MATSOD's set I met Roman Havaland, the bass player, and chatted with him for awhile. Once MATSOD loaded up their gear, Brian rounded up the members so that I could take a few group shots (like I said, very accommodating). So I met the rest of the band and we did a few group shots out in the alley behind the Glass House. They are some really cool guys. I have to apologize to From Autumn to Ashes because I missed their set because I was outside chatting with the guys from MATSOD. I ended up talking with Scott Collum, guitar, pretty much the rest of the night. Cool dudes.

Haste the Day was the headlining band this night. They rotate with From Autumn to Ashes the headlining spot. I did want to see Haste the Day. I have heard of them, but have never seen them, so I wanted to make sure and see some of their set. I was glad that I did. They were a lot of fun. The crowd was great during their set as well and overall it was all very entertaining.

I was only allowed to photograph during the first 3 songs, so once my time was up I went backstage and hung out with Scott from MATSOD and Patrick from Alesana for a bit. The rest of the night was spent talking with Scott and couple of his friends. I went home well after the show ended with great satisfaction. I had finally seen MATSOD and not only that, made some new friends. Thanks for reading. Take care and God Bless!
