I hung out with the boys from Maylene and the Sons of Disaster the last time they rolled through the area, so I didn’t want to miss a chance to see them again. I got there about the time Modern Life is War was getting ready to start. I had never seen or heard them before, but their name sounded familiar. I wasn’t expecting much, but they blew me away. They had such a great combo of old and new school hardcore. They had the angst and the drive of the old school and the heavy breakdowns of the new school. Their set made me want to go buy their CDs and crank them in my car. Look for them the next time they come through the area.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster were next. As amazing as they were the first time I saw them. The crowd went nuts for them too. If you like Southern rock and good hardcore, you have to check these guys out. But watch out, they kill peeps.

He is Legend was the headlining band. I am more of a fan of their older material, but they still put on a rockin’ show. Mid-way through their set I ventured out into the crowd and watched the kids dancing. I thought for sure these two white guys were going to get their butts kicked. They were making everyone mad. I had my camera ready for the blows to begin, but alas, it never happened.
