Jesse and Nathan From Band Marino

How did you get the idea for your band name?

(Jesse) We were star-gazing one day and came accross the star-cluster
"Bandus Marnesius", I guess it just clicked from there!

Who are you and where are you all from?

(Jesse) I'm from Oviedo, Florida. We all live in the Orlando area
Nathan and myself are both from here, Abe was born in denver and Dylon
is from Jackson, Alabama

What band has influenced you the most?

(Jesse) personally Led Zeppelin has influenced me the most.
Collectively though maybe The Pixies or the Beatles. it's hard to
say..

What do you try to have people get out of your music?

(Nathan) I think that depends entirely on the song. Music is always
a communication device, but in general everything we write is
communicating something a bit diferent. I guess ultimately I hope
people are actually listening to what we're talking about, and feeling
what we're feeling. I hope it adds another dimension and perspective
to their day.

What inspries your lyrics? What are they all about?

(Nathan) I draw a lot of inspiration from the concept of eternity.
Death, life, and what gives it meaning, religion, faith, God, the
spiritual world etc. are all very facinating and important to me. I
also believe them to be extremely critical things to deal with and
sort out so a lot of my song writing is me attempting to do that. In
addition I draw a lot of inspiration from human relationships and
varios social inner-workings, as well as plenty of other things, but
there tends to be an underlining tone which brings it all back to a
spiritual level in some way.

What makes you different from other bands out there?

(Nathan) I'm not sure. We mostly just make the music we make, and
work as hard as we can work. We try not to focus on that kind of
stuff. You would probably be a better judge of something like that.

Have a CD out?

(Jesse) Officially no, We sell our debut album "The Sea and The Beast"
at our shows and on iTunes but it won't be released to record stores
until February (tentatively).

If you could give advice to a starting band or musician, what would you
say?

(Nathan) It's a freeing moment when you realize you truly can do
anything with music, put any combonation of sounds together, organize
melodies in any way you like. For me, it's very exciting, but it's
something you forget and re-learn over and over again which, in it's
own way is exciting and beautiful. I would encourage an aspiring
artist to keep this in mind, and make music with their own voice.

(Jesse) And also, listen to lots of good music and work your butt off.
(Nathan) Yes that too.

What do you guys like to do on the road?

(Jesse) I like to play guitar in the back of the van all day. I
usually decide to learn a Django Reinhardt piece and spend all day
learing only the first forty seconds of it. And anytime we find a
river we like to hit that up.

Whats your opinion on the war going on today?

(Jesse) I think we're bullies.

Got any crazy or wild stories youd like to share?

(Jesse) I'm only a guitar player, I'm not very good at telling
stories.. well not at making them interesting anyway..

Do you have any upcoming shows?

(Jesse) a lot! we're about to head out on a six or seven week tour,
leaving on the 28th. so chances are we'll be in your area soon! check

What do you think about UFOs?

(Jesse) I think I saw one once.. it looked like an X-wing.. I'm not
even kidding. it was the best day of my life at the time!

What were some of your favorite bands growing up?

(Jesse) Lynyrd Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Creedence.. I loved classic rock.

What do you think is in store for Band Marino in the future?

(Jesse) Kickin out the jams I'd say.. we'll be around.

What do you think of Big Smile Magazine?

(Jesse) I've never read it, but your interview questions are more
interesting than alot that i've received
